This must be why all those people watch those poker shows. This Brett Favre thing is a longer, more drawn out version of it.

Okay, Favre wants to come back to play but the Packers have moved on. Favre has since sent a statement out saying he will ask to un-retire … forcing the Packers to make a move. Green Bay must keep him on their roster, trade him or release him.

They are chosing to keep him.

Sort of. In the team’s first public comments on this mess, the Packers are saying that an un-retired Favre would sit on their 80-man roster … and who knows what will happen next.”I don’t want to deal in hypotheticals,” [GM Ted] Thompson said. “Brett is still retired. I know that there has been a lot of publicity about him being released, but if he applies for reinstatement, he will go back on the Green Bay Packers active roster and we will deal with it then.”
From there, there are all kinds of ways the cards hit the table. They could bring Favre in to compete for the starting job … which should piss off Aaron Rodgers nicely. They could tell Favre that this is Rodgers’ team and he will be the backup … which should piss Favre off nicely.
