A source confirmed to FOXSports.com that Butler is taking a free-agent visit today with the Rams, which is where Steve Spagnuolo is entering his first season as head coach. A four-year Giants player, Butler started 26 games the past two seasons and finished 2008 with a career-high 68 tackles.
While the Rams placed a franchise tag on free safety O.J. Atogwe, the franchise is seeking an upgrade at strong safety. Journeyman Todd Johnson ended last season as the starter after Corey Chavous was benched.
