--The Giants have re-tooled a handful of player contracts, including QB Eli Manning. He will now earn a base salary of $9.4 million this coming season, roughly $400,000 more than was expected. The reason appears to be having reached certain escalators.
--CB Corey Webster's contract was renegotiated, and not because of reaching escalators. He'll earn $5.4 million this season and $2.75 million in 2010 with a $4 million roster bonus.
--Restricted free agents TE Darcy Johnson, DE Dave Tollefson and DT Leger Douzable recently signed tender offers.
--Former Giant DT Rodney Leisle, who was impressive but fell victim to injury in the summer of 2008, signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
--DE Justin Tuck proclaimed the Giants the "favorite to win the NFC and the Super Bowl." Apparently, he didn't check with head coach Tom Coughlin, who preaches, among many things: "Talk is cheap, play the game."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "If you aren't in favor of coaching players who aren't angels, maybe you should be coaching at Holy Cross." - Former general manager Ernie Accorsi allegedly to Coughlin when the team signed WR Plaxico Burress.
