--When former Giants' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo "raided" the roster to sign two players to his new team in St. Louis, where he is the head coach, one of the Giants said: "It's not as bad as it could have been." His reference was to the pair of safeties, James Butler (who was the starter at SS all season) and Craig Dahl, a former undrafted free agent who didn't play at all in 2008.
--The Giants' offensive line, arguably the best unit in the NFL, has been built without the benefit of a first round pick. Actually, the highest drafted player is RG Chris Snee (second). Then, in order, RT Kareem McKenzie (third), LT David Diehl (fifth), LG Rich Seubert (undrafted rookie free agent) and center Shaun O'Hara (undrafted rookie free agent signed originally by Cleveland).
--New unrestricted free agent signee Michel Boley will be slated to start at weak-side linebacker, next to veteran MLB Antonio Pierce. The identity of the strong-side linebacker is still unknown but for now the odds-on favorite is veteran Danny Clark, who handled the job last season. "I think Boley is going to be very important to us," said defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan.
