--Various reports claim that WR Plaxico Burress has been fined by the Giants "40 or 50" times since joining the team in 2005, mostly minor infractions such as missing treatments or reporting late for various events. But another report, initially traced to FOX Sports commentator Charley Casserly, said that the NFL was looking into possible infractions of the "personal code of conduct" policy involving two alleged domestic situations in which restraining orders were issued.
--C Shaun O'Hara, attempting to remain neutral in the wake of the latest Burress situation, said: "We're all grown men and we have a responsibility to the team and to each other."
--Still no word on whether the Giants intend to keep John Carney, their temporary replacement for incumbent kicker Lawrence Tynes, or release him to give the job back to the hero of the NFC Championship game in Green Bay last year. Tynes kicked a 47-yard field goal in OT to send the Giants to the Super Bowl. "I'm just the relief pitcher," Carney said. "I'll go back to the bullpen when Lawrence is ready." Maybe not. The 44-year-old has made nine field goals and eight extra points in as many attempts.
